Maerki Baumann Abu Dhabi Crypto Banking Expansion

Maerki Baumann Abu Dhabi crypto banking operations have officially begun following regulatory approval in the United Arab Emirates. The Swiss private bank has opened a branch in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) after receiving authorisation from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). This is the bank’s first branch outside Europe.

The Abu Dhabi location establishes a regional hub focused on serving crypto, blockchain, and technology-driven firms. The move expands Maerki Baumann’s international presence into the Middle East.

Services Offered Through Maerki Baumann Abu Dhabi Crypto Banking

The Maerki Baumann Abu Dhabi crypto banking unit operates under the brand ARCHIP. The platform provides regulated banking services to companies operating in digital assets and distributed ledger technologies.

Services include corporate banking, liquidity management, trading support, and custody solutions. Clients may also access staking services and digital asset management options. The offering is designed for corporate, institutional, and private clients active in crypto and blockchain sectors.

The branch focuses on firms requiring compliant banking infrastructure within a regulated financial jurisdiction.

Operational Structure and Regional Leadership

Local relationship managers are based in Abu Dhabi to support regional clients directly. These teams are supported by Maerki Baumann’s Tech Banking division in Zurich, which has worked with digital asset companies since 2019.

The Abu Dhabi hub is led by Andreas Froehlicher, formerly General Counsel and Head of Legal and Compliance at Maerki Baumann. He reports to Lukas S. Risi, Deputy CEO and Head of Private Banking.

Regulatory Framework and Strategic Positioning

Maerki Baumann Abu Dhabi crypto banking operations are conducted within ADGM, a financial centre known for its digital asset regulatory framework. ADGM has established rules covering tokenised assets, blockchain activity, and crypto-related financial services.

The bank stated that the ADGM licence enables it to operate as a regulated banking partner for blockchain and crypto firms in the region. According to public disclosures, the expansion aligns with the bank’s broader international growth strategy.

The Abu Dhabi branch allows Maerki Baumann to provide regulated crypto banking services across the Middle East and North Africa while maintaining Swiss banking standards.
